   THERE'S NO CRYING IN BASEBALL...
  AND NO OFFSEASON IN BODYBUILDING...

BodyMuscle Journal Volume 4

Q: I'm planning to compete next year in my first bodybuilding show. Both my Doctor and my mom (who is a nurse), tell me that since I eat so much food, that I do not need any food supplements, especially in the off season. All the bodybuilding magazines say I do? Honestly, what say you?

A: Do you think that bodybuilding is the same as baseball? If you train year-round you should concentrate on total nutritional intake year round. Think of the "off season" as the 'building season' -- that time other than the immediate 12-week period immediately in front of your contest. In your building season you are adding or sculpting mass, developing your body. In this case we agree with the magazines and it's not just to make a buck. You absolutely need supplements in the "off season." Certainly you do not need to take every supplement, but there are some essentials for muscle growth --- protein, BCAA, glutamine, creatine, liver, and multiple vitamin-minerals. A protein supplement is essential; because eating 5-7 whole food meals a day is impossible unless you are a Hippo working for I-Hop. You need a racehorse premium grade, multi-blend protein powder. You want to make sure you utilize all the proteins (such as meat) that you consume. To minimize the 'limiting amino factor' use Beverly Mass and Ultra 40 liver, with each meal. This will increase protein utilization, amino acid strength and micronutrient intake. (These two products are the foundation of every Beverly body, past or present).

Performance, growth factors like the critical cluster of aminos -- Arginine, Glutamine, Leucine, Isoleucine, and Valine, (the BCAA's), and creatine, and HMB are also critical. Any one of these ingredients is an excellent choice by itself, but dozens of research studies and thousands of bodybuilders have found out that all of these items have a more profound effect when chemically fused in exacting ratios. Muscle Synergy is the only product that correctly biochemically fuses creatine, arginine, glutamine, HMB, glycine, and niacin into one super compound, (as per the medical study correct ingredient ratio protocols). Take a quality multiple vitamin packet (our Super Pak is the best on the market!) to secure additional calcium, potassium, magnesium, zinc and vitamins, B, E and C and all the extras.

   OFF THE JUICE .... AND
   WE AREN'T TALKING O.J.

Q: I have a couple friends who used to be juiced to the gills, but have gone natural over the last 3 years and now don't use anything but Beverly. Besides being a lot healthier, they like being natural. I want to do the same, to get off the juice and go natural. Which Beverly supplements will best protect my muscle size?

A: At least immediately, you will lose size off the D-Bol. Steroids are are more anti-catabolic rather than being directly anabolic, despite their name and that is why they produce additional size. (Up to 75% of muscle growth from steroids may be due to suppression of training induced catabolism). Anabolic is the term for any action or metabolic process that induces growth, and basically every other metabolic process (or opposite action) is catabolic. This includes overtraining, muscle tissue breakdown, illness, negative nitrogen balance and immune stress. You want to upset (to paraphrase) one of Newton's laws of motion -- for every "anabolic" action, there is an equal and opposite "catabolic" reaction. You must diminish the catabolic reactions so equality does not hold. Steroids help prevent over training, improve recovery, and increase nitrogen retention so the scale is turned to anabolism. Precise Beverly products are anti catabolic (like Ultra Size and Synergy) and all of them amplify protein utilization to yield higher nitrogen retention. You can eat all the gelatin or tofu your belly can hold, but you won't add an ounce of muscle because this protein is not efficiently utilized. The same goes for cheap whey protein powders. The cheap laundry detergent sized scoop (in the $40 for 5 pound cans) of high lactose pig food dairy whey concentrate may give you 50 grams of protein, but despite a fair BV, it's not utilized so it's pretty much useless. Unless you are a sow. Protein utilization is the key to rebuilding muscle and decreasing the degree of protein breakdown. Muscle Provider and Ultra Size are protein hydrolysates and isolates that are the same as are used in medicine to reverse the effects of muscle wasting diseases and in accidents, like third degree burns. All hospitals have access to the same raw materials we use, but many order Muscle Provider and Ultra Size directly from us. A few other products that have vast medical applications are Muscle Synergy, Muscle Mass BCAAs, and Beverly's powdered L-Glutamine.

Most of the powdered L-Glutamine in burn centers is from the same batch as Beverly. We have the exclusive right of having our label put on a percentage of the bottles. A recent independent research study has proven that casein hydrolysate is the most anti-catabolic protein, more effective in arresting catabolism than any form of whey. (Actually this has been known for about 30 years and this study recently published, proved it again). Still, there are at least 2 whey companies that advertise casein as useless or even dangerous. These companies may be wealthy, but they are shameful in their advertising, ignoring the facts. Beverly's Mass Amino has the highest level of Hydrolysate material (from Casein) available. The hydrolysate level is approximately 49 percent. This is the maximum amount possible before the product would liquefy.

Here is our recommended anti-catabolic (non-steroid) blitz:

Muscle Provider - 1 scoop with first and last regular dinner time meal of the day. 2 scoops Post workout (with or without carbs such as Mass Maker).

Ultra Size - 2 scoops mixed with water and cream or milk as a nitrogen rich meal replacement 1 -- 3 times daily, preferably upon rising if you do not eat breakfast right away, and at bedtime for sure.

Mass Aminos - 4 - 6 with each meal or protein drink.

L-Glutamine/Muscle Synergy - 1 teaspoon L-Glutamine and 6-8 Muscle Synergy first thing in the morning and prior to your workout.

1 Tablespoon L-Glutamine and 6-8 Synergy postworkout. Also continue this stack three times daily on non-workout days.

Muscle Mass BCAAs - 1 tablet for every 10-lbs. of bodyweight consumed during weight training sessions. If you are on a tight budget, Mass Aminos may be substituted with the same dosage.
